WORK IN PROGRESS: USAF Strategic Bombers
Collection
and SR-71 Strategic Reconnaissance

We plan a great
many military aircraft posters. In fact, many of them will be
entire collections devoted to a particular type of aircraft.
USAF Strategic Bombers is the first of those collections.
There are a great many USAF fighters, so they will be divided into two
collections. USAF Fighters 1 begins with the F-51 Mustang
in use when the Air Force was established in 1946 and continues
through the "100 series," ending with the F-106. USAF
Fighters 2 picks up where it leaves off. It will show the
F-111 Aardvark, F-117 Nighthawk (stealth), F-4J Phantom II, F-5E
Tiger, Freedom Fighter, F-15 Eagle, F-16 Freedom Fighter, F-35 Joint
Strike Fighter and F/A-22 Raptor. These will be followed by
USAF Assault Aircraft and Tactical Bombers, USAF Cargo Planes, and
In-Flight Refueling, which is a special collection
The Air Force certainly does not have a monopoly on military
aircraft. Other collections will include US Army Warplanes of WWII,
US Navy Warplanes of WWII, Modern US Navy Aircraft, US Coast Guard
Aircraft, US Army Helicopters, and US Marine Corp Aircraft. |
| All of these
collections will follow the same format. We are using CAD (computer aided design)
programs to create highly detailed 3-dimensional models of aircraft. They may
then be rotated in any direction, scaled and combined into one
picture. This is the same methodology used to create the movie
Jurassic Park. |

Composite
Poster
Each collection will contain a composite
poster that shows all of the aircraft in the collection. We are positioning our aircraft images so that they are seen from the
same low angle. This permits showing the all-important wing
design. The low angle combined with a common background makes
the planes appear to be flying in formation. All are shown to
the same scale, which
permits easy comparison in of size and design..

3-view Posters
Our CAD images are also being used to produce a series of
posters showing the same aircraft from three-views. They will be
printed in the more compact 18" x 24" size to permit multi-poster wall
groupings. There will be a 3-view poster for each of the
aircraft shown on the Strategic Bombers poster. They are the
B-29 and B-50 Superfortress, B-36 Peacemaker, B-47 Stratojet, B-52
Stratofortress, B-58 Hustler, FB-111A Aardvark, B-1 Lancer, B-2 Spirit
and SR-71 Blackbird. |

Posters
The Strategic Air Command
provided our nation's first line of defense during the many years of
the cold war. These poster honor the various units that flew the
strategic bombers and recon aircraft.
